A scent that became a signature
We first met Tyler and his partner Spencer, who run Loa Skin together, through the market world in the early days of both our businesses. We were instantly taken with them and their flagship product, a gorgeous, skin-soothing botanical oil that became an essential part of our daily routines.
We’ve been very fortunate to watch their business flourish over the years, as friends, fellow entrepreneurs, and even as collaborators, helping to bring their vision of a "perfect summer dinner party candle" to life.
We spoke with Tyler about his favourite floral scent, its powerful connection to his grandmother and how it coincidently inspired their new Botanical Recovery Mask – a velvety, leave-on treatment mask that targets common signs of aging like fine lines, collagen loss, and hyperpigmentation
“We previously chose the scent by chance, but we recently decided to make it the top note of one of our skincare products. Now, every night when I apply it, I’m transported back to those afternoons spent with my grandmother.”
Smells like Sunday brunch
“The osmanthus flower reminds me of the aromatic tea my grandmother would order whenever we went out for brunch. Many of my core memories were made during those brunches as a kid. I treasure them—and that scent—so much.”
For Tyler, scent isn’t just a detail. It’s the bridge between time and place—a quiet way to honour the people and rituals that shaped him.

Tyler and his team have built their product line around the idea that nature can be transformative, personal, and healing. What began as a subconscious choice is now an intentional signature that connects every product to something deeply human.
