SCENT STORIES explores the powerful connection between memory and the scents we love. 006 features our dear friend Natasha Neale, founder and owner of Little Mountain Mountain Shop.
Natasha cultivates community and champions entrepreneurship by curating pop-up shops and events throughout Vancouver. A cheerleader for small businesses and local support, Natasha has been showcasing emerging brands since 2015. We were first introduced to Natasha when our founder had a chance meeting while visiting from LA. That meeting has led to nearly a decade of collaboration and friendship, which is still going strong today.
We spoke to Natasha about how Aquolina Pink Sugar Perfume and Y2K nostalgia.
Favourite Scent: Ginger Flower Saffron
Out of pure nostalgia, the Ginger Flower Saffron will always be a favourite because it reminds me of the first collab candle we did with Little Mountain Shop x Homecoming for a holiday pop-up in 2019. The scent is sweet and spicy, perfect for cozy nights.
Scent Memory: Aquolina Pink Sugar Perfume
It’s rare, but sometimes I’ll walk by someone wearing Aquolina Pink Sugar perfume, a throwback to the early 2000s. The sweet, candy-like scent takes me right back to my late teenage years and all the fun, carefree moments. I don’t wear strong perfumes anymore, but reflecting on this scent, it was Pink Sugar that made me fall in love with vanilla. These days, I wear a vanilla musk fragrance oil.
Fun fact: Homecoming’s production studio was once located in the back of the original Little Mountain space. Today, Little Mountain Shop operates as a permanent pop-up space on Granville Island in the Net Loft, showcasing a weekly rotation of pop-ups featuring local makers and creatives.
